How to Turn In Exercises

  1. Save and name your exercise file as directed in the textbook.  For example, instead of EE1_0102, save as EE1_P1drill.

  2. Compare your exercise to the Solution Key in the Blue Book.

  3. On scratch paper, note any errors that you find on your assignment.

Do not hold onto the Blue Book; someone else might need it.

  4. Determine what you did wrong.  (Don't just change it to the correct answer.)  This step is very important.  You need to know how to arrive at the correct solution -- the concept may appear on a test.

  5. Correct your errors.  (Make sure you know why you are making the changes.)

  6. Save.

  7. Email the file as an attachment to dkamarainen@sccd.ctc.edu

    1. On the Subject box, enter "Assignment:" and then add the filename(s) of the assignments that you are sending."

  8. Optionally, you should save your printout (indicating the errors) as to review for the Final Test.

Formulas

Mathematical Operators in Formulas

Operator Example Comments
+  (addition) =B7+B11 Adds the values in B7 and B11.
-  (subtraction) =B7-B11 Subtracts the value in B11 from B7.
*  (multiplication) =B7*B11 Multiplies the values in B7 and B11.
/  (division) =B7/B11 Divides the value in B7 by the value in B11.
^  (exponentiation) =B7^3 Raises the value in B7 to the third power (B7*B7*B7).
%  (percent) =B7*10% Multiplies the value in B7 by 10% (.10).
( )  (calculations) =B7/(C4-C2) Parentheses change the order of calculations -- parentheses are calculated first.  In this example, C2 would be subtracted from C4, and then B7 would be divided by the result.
