the mandibular
Topical Placement: lingual gingival halfway down the root of the tooth to be

Maxillary arch and mandibular incisors: use short needle

MAXILLARY LOCAL ANESTHESIA
PSA ( posterior superior alveolar nerve)
-Local: distobuccal and lingual roots of the first molar, and all of the
second and third molars
Topical placement: mucogingival junction over the maxillary second molar
MSA (middle superior alveolar nerve)
-Local: mesiobuccal root of the first molar, and all of the first and second
premolars
Topical placement: mucogingival junction over the second premolar
ASA (anterior superior alveolar nerve)
-Local: centrals, laterals, cuspids
Topical placement: mucogingival junction above the cuspids and incisors
NP (NASOPALATINE NERVE)
-Local: nasopalatine anterior third of the palate (lingually cuspid to
cuspid)
Topical placement: midline just posterior to the central incisors
APN (ANTERIOR PALATINE NERVE)
-Local: greater palatine soft tissue of the hard palate (from the tuberosity
to the cuspid region)
Topical placement: gingival border of the maxillary second molar (lingual)
