Student The Computer-Based Accounting Certificate of Completion Program prepares students for financial careers as bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable clerks.In addition to developing a solid understanding of business operations and accounting fundamentals, students will learn popular computerized accounting software, currently, QuickBooks.
 
Hands-on computer training will also include the most commonly used business software including word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), time management and email (MS Outlook), web browser (Internet Explorer), and operating system (Windows). Students will learn how to integrate these applications.
 
Accounting projects and scenarios are incorporated into the program. Knowledge and skills essential to employment including professional skills, business communication, keyboarding, ten key, business math and employment skills will be taught. All skills acquired are applied in the financial office simulation course, and finally used on the job in a real office during your externship.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course of study in the Computer-Based Accounting Program students should be able to:
  1. Understand basic accounting theory and competently use standard bookkeeping practices to secure and maintain employment in entry-level account clerk positions.
  2. Use technical computer, telephone, office machine, and business/accounting application software skills at industry standards in proficiency to perform all required business office and accounting tasks.
  3. Possess the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively research and communicate orally and in written forms using commonly accepted business practices.
  4. Demonstrate professional work habits and behavior expected in a professional office including confidentiality, business ethics, and a commitment to team work and diversity.
  5. Demonstrate proficiency in keyboarding, ten key, data-entry, and word processing at industry standards.
  6. Possess the math, problem solving, and researching skills necessary to perform business office tasks.

Steps To Success
Computer-based accounting leads to well-paid, responsible positions in a field where good accounting personnel are always in demand. Graduates can begin their careers in an accounting office doing bookkeeping, accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable or payroll. With experience, many professionals in accounting are then able to transition into self-employment using their skills as independent bookkeepers, QuickBooks experts, or tax specialists. Some even start their own companies.
 

Admission Policy
Students must meet the Assessment Test requirements for admissions. This is a Veterans Administration (VA) approved program.
