GED Academy
GED Academy offers young adults the opportunity to become productive members of society and the skills to become a successful adult. The program is specifically for young people between 16 and 21 years of age, who are not in school and do not have a diploma. GEDA offers the opportunity for students to earn a GED, enhance their basic skills and obtain job training in a career field offered at Seattle Vocational Institute.

GEDA students have goal-oriented activities which help bridge the gap between school and work. GEDA provides a step by step approach to your educational and career success. GEDA offers the complete package, from basic skills to employment. GEDA Services are free to eligible students.
Pre-Vocational Skills
Students attend class to enhance their basic skills and earn the General Educational Development(GED). Math, Language Arts, Reading, Science, Spelling, Writing, Communications and Social Studies are taught, as well as, computer skills, study methods and testing skills. Academic Advising is provided.
Skills Training
GEDA graduates are eligible for sponsorship in vocational programs that lead to careers with a future. They can enter the Seattle Vocational Institute training program of their choice after graduation. This include the vocational programs of the Medical, Dental and Business Computers Divisions, the Multiple Trades Pre-Apprenticeship Program and the School of Cosmetology.
Job Skills
Career Advisors help students enter the workforce by devising an Individual Career Plan for each student. Other job-related assistance includes job search, job shadowing, job development, resume writing, interview technique, internships and placement assistance.
Life Skills
GEDA addresses life situations by offering life skills classes in Cultural Diversity, Dressing for Success, Etiquette, Leadership Training, Personal Care and Social Development.
Support Services
Barrier reduction services including Drug and Alcohol Counseling, Nutrition, Childcare and Transportation Assistance are available for students.

Admission Policies
Students, ages 16 to 21, who have not graduated from high school may enroll in classes through the GED Academy. After completing the GED, GEDA students are eligible for sponsorship into the vocational program of their choice.
