The Washington State Employment Security Department partners with the community college network by granting Unemployment Insurance recipients permission to participate in an approved training program while collecting regular UI benefits.
Individuals who do not fit the Commissioner Approved Training criteria can still participate in a re-training program, but must continue to meet the job search requirements set forth by Employment Security Department and must be willing to quit school if offered a job that may conflict with their training schedule.

Orientations for Commissioner Approved Training/Training Benefits are offered every Friday at 1:00 p.m. on the SVI campus in Room 212 and are administered by a representative from the Washington State Employment Security Department.
